Shoe Bites: Bag my Beauty

Will you forgive me if I tempt you with my favourite bags from Pret-Amoda.com by comparing them to the hottest beauty looks from the runways? I wanted to do something a little different with my posts and hope you like this piece. The bag you see above from Vitasta, who is known for her antler bag, reminded me of this very strong cat eye look from DSquared. I’ve wanted this bag since I saw Shivan Bhatiya (from Shivan & Narresh) walk into the airport with a large antler duffel bag by the same brand, talk about envy!

We all need a little disco right? Well this bag by Lost City brings that Studio 54 vibe with it. I’m not one to go over the top, but the eye make up at Roberto Cavalli is perfect to match this bag. While it’s not a look I’d suggest for day, it’ll work for that party weekend you have planned. Plus have you ever heard of matching your eye shadow to your bag – Can I say fashion genius?!

Two things you have to have for the office this season. One, a great mini-messenger bag like Princesse K’s in the picture above. Secondly, a deep hued berry lip stain or lipstick like the one we saw at Viktor & Rolf. It’s a shade that is professional for the office and sensual for night. We all need day to night essentials and I’ve just given you my two suggestions. Lucky you!

Just like me, you might not be able to rock a completely stark no make-up look like we saw at Chloé, but you can go nude with a wardrobe staple.  This one from Cupidity will go with anything you own in your closet, and you’ll find that you’ll be using it… A lot!

I can’t get enough of Coral, I’ve got dresses, shoes, make up and even wide leg trousers in this colour! I do have a coral clutch, but this contemporary one by Vitasta is begging to be bought. Anna Sui does a near perfect all Coral inspired beauty look, that’s fresh and youthful. I’m going to try this out soon, hopefully it’ll be a success.

Decoding the Runway: Elie Saab

I’ve fantasized about wearing every sparkly gown in this collection and while it’s not my usual taste, I can’t help myself. Elie Saab’s latest Fall 2012 RTW collection takes you to a world of practical glamour. His women are strong, independent and take charge of their lives with or without a significant other. Now that’s the type of clothing all us girls need. HOWEVER..

The day wear, which any RTW collection should be strong in felt lacking and busy. Mr.Saab is a Hollywood starlet’s dream, he makes some of the best gowns in the industry. So I shall focus on the evening wear section or better still, the two gowns apart from that gold amazement above (first picture). While you may not want to be dripping in gold, there are other options, like the beige drop V neck with slightly less sequins. The fully decadent green gown begs to be worn to a momentous event, I mean you just can’t afford to waste wearing it to something less worthy.

It’s a good thing I was distracted by the magic of these gowns for as long as I was because I was SHOCKED, appalled even at the footwear. Did he forget that a woman needs a shoe as seductive as these dresses?  These chunky, passé heels aren’t fooling anyone. Not that they’re bad on their own, but when paired with this collection is just seems to have lost the plot.

Ugly shoes of not, I would have loved to be part of that backstage action. These pictures from the thick of the green room show these dresses at their best. The actual pattern of the sequins and the fabric really come through in these candid moments. Also, if you haven’t already picked up a shade of grey nail polish (to compliment this grey monsoon), you might want to choose the colour seen on Elite model Magdalena Frackowiak .

Shoe Bites: Blake Lively Gets the Major Love Stamp!

It’s not everyday that a beauty look catches my eye, but this one is going down in my, Major Love list. Blake Lively better be sending her make up & hair stylist some Louboutins because her make up is flawless and her hair is perfect. It’s glamour at it’s best, from the long eyelashes to the crimson lip, this should be proof enough that when it comes to makeup, the classics always prevail. I don’t know if the movie Savages is going to be any good, but this red carpet appearances has given me enough reason to go watch it. Even if she doesn’t look this glammed up, this picture is going to be etched in my memory. I’m going to be hunting on youtube to find a make and hair tutorial for this look. I’d love to have this hair do every day for the rest of my life. Please God? Hear my prayer!

Toe Tappers: Damn your Eyes, Alex Clare

I have to listen to this song every day on my way to work. Damn Your Eyes by Alex Clare was originally an Etta James song and just like the late singer, he too belts it out from the soul. There is such a yearning and pain in his voice, that you’re immediately hooked. You must be asking yourself why I’d choose such a depressing song as this for my journey to work. Well,I can’t quite answer that one, I’ve never been happier, got a great new job, fun colleagues and an amazing bunch of girlfriends. Which means, there is NO meaning behind why I like this song, I just like it.

In fact, you should check out his other songs too, another go to song is ‘Up all Night’ which has a great beat that makes you want to do a little jig, even if it’s a head bob on the local train to work. His songs have a slight dub step feel to them, but it’s more commercial and makes for easy listening. Hope you enjoy this one!

Shoe Bites: Shivan & Narresh are Finally in my City!

I’ve been keeping this bottled up ever since they told me at the beginning of the year that they are looking out for store space in Mumbai. Finally last tuesday, after a lifetime of silence (on my part) they finally opened up their doors. This had to be the first Shivan & Narresh event where I wasn’t wearing the label, which would explain why Shivan was giving me the ‘why that top with that skirt’ look. Boys if you reading this, don’t worry now I know where to go get some proper clothes! *hint hint, nudge nudge, wink wink*
