Decoding the Runway: Burak Uyan’s Fall Winter 2013-14 Collection

Every few months I get an email from Burak Uyan’s main man Srdjan Prodanovic, with the latest from the shoe maestro. These emails are filled with gorgeous pictures of footwear that take me to high heel heaven.  This Fall/Winter ’13-14 collection Uyan has out done himself.

FW2013-14_look book-19

Keeping to his signature upright heel and exotic materials, it’s a collection that begs to be worn on the streets of Paris. Colours are lush with military browns, rich purples and moss greens, Plus a few shocking reds for that sex appeal. The collection also brought back the little black shoe, with accents of gold, a must for the fall season. Here are some of my picks from Uyan’s latest collection, be prepared to daydream all afternoon about these beauties. Continue reading

Shoe Bites: Dreaming of an Alila Diwa Escape

I had the immense pleasure of staying at the Alila Diwa in Goa back in December, and it’s a hotel that you just can’t help but fall in love with. The staff becomes part of your friends towards the end of your trip and that’s what I love most about any hotel; the feeling of home when you’re away. I’m choc-blocked with things this month, but looks like a nice spot has opened up for me in April, to take a trip to Goa and stay at the Alila Diwa. Here are some of my pictures and a few memories from my trip (to know more, check out my review on

Found these guys all dried up and unfortunately.. dead. But dotted all over Majorda beach were these starfish, we did kick a little moist sand over the few that were struggling to survive. The sun is just too harsh down in Goa and this was in December! Poor guys.

The luxury wing of the hotel is called the Diwa club and it’s got it’s very own pool. Waking up in the morning to the sight of that inviting blue oasis is the perfect way to start the day. Add a little jazz music and a puzzle book to that equation (and some garam chai), and I’m a very happy lady. Continue reading

Shoe Bites: Bag my Beauty

Will you forgive me if I tempt you with my favourite bags from by comparing them to the hottest beauty looks from the runways? I wanted to do something a little different with my posts and hope you like this piece. The bag you see above from Vitasta, who is known for her antler bag, reminded me of this very strong cat eye look from DSquared. I’ve wanted this bag since I saw Shivan Bhatiya (from Shivan & Narresh) walk into the airport with a large antler duffel bag by the same brand, talk about envy!

Lost city & Roberto Cavalli

We all need a little disco right? Well this bag by Lost City brings that Studio 54 vibe with it. I’m not one to go over the top, but the eye make up at Roberto Cavalli is perfect to match this bag. While it’s not a look I’d suggest for day, it’ll work for that party weekend you have planned. Plus have you ever heard of matching your eye shadow to your bag – Can I say fashion genius?!

Princess K, Victor & Rolf

Two things you have to have for the office this season. One, a great mini-messenger bag like Princesse K’s in the picture above. Secondly, a deep hued berry lip stain or lipstick like the one we saw at Viktor & Rolf. It’s a shade that is professional for the office and sensual for night. We all need day to night essentials and I’ve just given you my two suggestions. Lucky you!

cupidity, chloe

Just like me, you might not be able to rock a completely stark no make-up look like we saw at Chloé, but you can go nude with a wardrobe staple.  This one from Cupidity will go with anything you own in your closet, and you’ll find that you’ll be using it… A lot!

Vitasta, Anna SUi

I can’t get enough of Coral, I’ve got dresses, shoes, make up and even wide leg trousers in this colour! I do have a coral clutch, but this contemporary one by Vitasta is begging to be bought. Anna Sui does a near perfect all Coral inspired beauty look, that’s fresh and youthful. I’m going to try this out soon, hopefully it’ll be a success.

25. Arina (Apologises for Me!)

I know it’s ridiculous to start a blog and then go missing for, what has it been 3 odd weeks?! I should put in more effort into documenting my love for all this fluff and shoes. I promise to be more regular, but by the end of this post you’ll see what I’ve been happily occupied with.

Since I’ve moved to Mumbai to take up my new role as Head of Fashion for, I’ve been spending all my evenings with Arina and my best bud Sami Savanur. Continue reading

India Resort Fashion Week 2011, Day 4, Manish Malhotra and Marbela Memories

Manish Malhotra is known for his commercially viable Indian wear, and no one does it better than him. Many say that Sabyasachi Mukherjee also does superb India wear, but when it comes right down to it, Manish’s vision appeals to the majority. The same can be said about this latest collection at IRFW2011. Although it wasn’t a classic resort wear collection, it was definitely what Manish imagines a sangeet on a beach should look like. The colours were done in sections from pinks to whites to deep reds, a warm palette heavy with metallic accents. As before the anarkalis are still long but not as voluminous. Oddly enough, I wished he would have given us a true resort collection, one that focused on separates rather than a whole outfit. It would have been interesting to see his creativity flourish in other genres of fashion.
