Monday Mood Board: India Couture Week Special – White and Gold

While sipping away on champagne and catching some rays yesterday, I began to browse through my Instagram feed and what followed was a few hours of fawning over some breath taking designs at India Couture Week. Seems like I’m not the only one obsessed with everything White and Gold, the designers were too. I can’t wait to see brides gravitate even more to this colour scheme, classic and screaming contemporary India, these creations are perfect for the Indian woman. Here is my list of top designs from India Couture Week 2016

It feels like a dream when you see Anamika Khanna’s creations in pictures, I can only imagine what it’s like to be sitting front row. A fluid drape here, cutwork embroidery there and a bit of sparkle to finish off the look – perfect on any woman, any size and any occasion. Continue reading

Decoding the Runway: Top 2 picks from Day 2 at Wills India Fashion Week

I was quite disappointed with day 2 to be honest, I was only capable of picking two looks. I’m sure the collections were a lot better live than in the few images I’ve seen. However, I have to say a huge round of applause goes to the stylists who so expertly drape and make garments look more fashionable than perhaps they are.

Monks in Tibet or sadhus at the Khubh Mela, what ever the inspiration this particular look will turn heads no matter where you are. Orange is such a beautiful colour on our skin tone, plus the flounce of the fabric and the cinch at the waist makes this stand out look.

This is an amazing example how stylists are so important for a designer’s vision to be understood by the audience. While by itself this anarkali outfit would have been dated, it’s given a fresh uplift with the drape and military-esque jacket.

Shoe Bite: Lady Gaga wears Tarun Tahiliani

Lady Gaga performed at Lap in Delhi over the last weekend for the F1 After Party. Although I can’t imagine what her performance was like, I did find a few pictures of her in this outfit. It was originally a concept sari by top Indian fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani. As the night progressed she began to unwrap the sari, finally going down to just a leotard. To be honest, the only thing i like about the outfit are the shoes, patent leather booties for a music concert how could you go wrong. I guess by paring it with a concept sari! What do you think though?
