Shoe Bites: Game Night Essentials

Last Friday, my house turned into noise central as everyone turned up for game night. On the table was some good old french fries, chocolate cake, pudding, home-made sandwiches and yummy sausage rolls (all thanks to my girlfriends, they are the best!). The food though was not the high light of the night.  After many rounds of the game Kings, below are some of my key items for a fun game night, one that will have all your friends in a tizzy (especially if there is tequila involved).

The rules are simple, get the ping pong in the cup using the different trick cards. If you manage to perform 3 tasks from the cards, you win. Sounds simple, yet none of us could get a slam dunk. There is a lot more skill involved than you may think. Trust me when I say, the boys are not going to give up trying, especially if they are competitive. It is super entertaining though, plus the cup lights up and makes tribal sounds every time you get the ball in.

Texas Hold’Em Poker or Kings

Alright, I say this with love, if you don’t know how to play, or haven’t got a bunch of friends who are addicted to poker, you’ve probably been living out in the boonies. Make your poker session all the more exciting with these transparent and water proof playing cards (perfect for when you play Kings). They really are very awesome to say the least, plus they keep you on your toes considering they are see through. Difficult to keep a poker face when you think your opponents can see your cards. Don’t worry though, they work just as well are regular cards.

The rules are easy, try and get your team-mates to guess the main word without using the related adjectives beneath it. The trick of the game is to think like your partner to get them to guess the word. I’ve heard some hilarious descriptions while playing.  A friend trying to get the word ‘under’ asks her team-mate, “what is the opposite of above” to which my EDM crazed friend replies “BEYOND.” Not the right word, but made us laugh hysterically. The funniest till date though was a friend’s description of the word ‘Kiss’ – “If I were to touch my mouth to a girl in a romantic manner, it’s called a…??” Sounds peculiar, but everyone got the word right of the bat! It’s a fab game, play it once and you’re hooked.

Shoe Bites: Anne Hathaway’s Oscar Diamonds

anne hathaway

The only thing brighter than Anne Hathaway’s smile after winner her Oscar for Best Supporting Actress was her drop dead gorgeous diamonds. This Tiffany & Co necklace was the only saving grace about her entire look. While the dress isn’t that bad, we have come to expect so much more from Hathaway. The fabric of her Prada dress looks very laboured over and not in a good way. Who can get their eyes off that necklace? I’m not sure if it was worn back to front, but from the looks of it, it might have. I wish the dress had more drama in front than at the back, going backless seems to be the in thing these days, but aren’t we a bit fed up of the same thing in different packages?

Shoe Bites: Mia Kunia & Michelle Williams at Comic-Con

I would never have thought that Comic-Con would be a place for some serious high heel spotting. Mila Kunis and Michelle Williams came out for a photo opp and the panel for their latest movie Oz the great and Powerful. While I can’t say too much about the movie, I can admire their choice in heels. It’s good that Mila decided to wear a pair of lace Dolce & Gabbana heels, because that blazer outfit is such a bore. Michelle on the other hand is sweet as pie in her Giuseppe Zanotti heels and dress. I still can’t take my eyes off those pink suede peep toes, talk about serious envy!

Shoe Bites: Shivan & Narresh are Finally in my City!

Shivan Narresh launch

I’ve been keeping this bottled up ever since they told me at the beginning of the year that they are looking out for store space in Mumbai. Finally last tuesday, after a lifetime of silence (on my part) they finally opened up their doors. This had to be the first Shivan & Narresh event where I wasn’t wearing the label, which would explain why Shivan was giving me the ‘why that top with that skirt’ look. Boys if you reading this, don’t worry now I know where to go get some proper clothes! *hint hint, nudge nudge, wink wink* Continue reading

26. Penny (made it to the 34th floor)

Hey blog world, this is Penny who is an absolute pain, especially if you’re hanging out with her for 16 hours without a break. It’s additionally tiresome to deal with Penny when one (me) has given up alcohol for lent. She is definitely not someone to mess with, she’s been known to hurt toes and even makes holes in carpets, so beware! We hung out on the first day of Lakmé Fashion Week Summer Resort 2012 where we started off the day figuring out why there was a wet t-shirt contest and ended it with the best view of the city.  Continue reading

25. Arina (Apologises for Me!)

I know it’s ridiculous to start a blog and then go missing for, what has it been 3 odd weeks?! I should put in more effort into documenting my love for all this fluff and shoes. I promise to be more regular, but by the end of this post you’ll see what I’ve been happily occupied with.

Since I’ve moved to Mumbai to take up my new role as Head of Fashion for, I’ve been spending all my evenings with Arina and my best bud Sami Savanur. Continue reading
