Monday Mood Board: Rose Quartz & Serenity

I’ve been so inspired by Pantone’s colours of the year recently, that I thought it would be great to do a recurring post inspired by colour. Any design student will tell you that after inspiration hits…the most amazing products, clothes, interior spaces etc. all come together from first making a mood board. It is essentially a board filled with pictures, quotes, textiles or colours, that focus on an overall theme.

This Monday I’m crushing on Pantone’s hottest (or should I say coolest) colour cobination – Rose Quartz and Serenity.

If you’re at all interested in tarot cards, runes, crystals and the like, you’ll know that Rose Quartz is associated with love. In fact (I’ve been told) if you’d like to spice up your love life, you should get a rose quartz heart and make sure to rinse it in a clear bowl of water, under a full moon. This process is called charging. Essentially bringing all those good love vibes into your life. Make sure no one else touches it or see it, as the stone is said to be hypersensitive to other energies. Whether you believe in it or not, I think it’s a gorgeous coloured stone. Plus a little help in the love department can’t hurt!

Whenever I think of the word serenity, I think of the prayer. Simple and powerful these words have been said by many to help in times when you most need it. Many alcoholic rehab programs use this prayer to bring relief to some of the anguish people feel. Pantone has done an amazing representing this word with their pale blue colour. It truly does evoke a sense of peace and calm.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
forever in the next.

These colour combinations would have been a perfect fit for my last label Ridz Castell. Soo inspired to start drawing just looking at these interesting ways in which people have put these two colours together.
