Decoding the Runway: Erdem

ladylike kittens

Erdem’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection was all about being lady like with an edge. It has all the makings of becoming the IT shoes for the ladies who like to lunch. The kitten heel never gets enough of attention, yet it’s the size that most women prefer for a whole day shoe. These floral kitten are very elegant but far from boring with that bold ankle strap. I would pair them with a tea length frock just to take that prim look a notch higher.

Make sure you get a good pedicure because these kitten heels have a clear panel and strap, showing off a lot of toe. Actually, for summer you better look after your feet, because you’re going to be showing them off. I like these much better than the ones above, they’re younger and simply more fun. I’m usually not into any clear paneling on heels, but these are tastefully done, especially  with the subtle lace appliqué.

dainty lace
Lace shoes are definitely on my the to buy list, however for winter not spring. I do like the way Erdem has played with this fabric, the opacity and subtle piping make the heels look fragile and ultra feminine. I’m still not convinced about lace for summer but that’s only because I imagine lace with christmas and new years, go figure!?
